APULIA
Apulia is the heel of the Boot. It's a land projected in the Mediterranean Sea, a bridge towards Orient. In its history it has been ruled by different Peoples, the Greeks, the Normans, the Spanish, the French. Any of them left its signs in architecture, language, food, habits. The territory is almost equally divided between plain and hills. Agriculture and tourism are the main resources. Every year it's among the top Italian regions for the wine grape production.
VIGLIONE LAND
Viglione land is at the crossroad of three provinces: Bari, Taranto and Matera (Basilicata). In the area there's plenty of species of plants and animals. Here sits the winery and the main vineyards. The limestone soil with a substrate of clay - that was once a swamp, later reclaimed- makes so that the rain melts the minerals in the stones, brings them to the roots of the vines, and stays there for all the plants lifecycle.
THE SURROUNDINGS
Nearby Tenuta Viglione you can find very important historic and turistic attractions like the town of Matera, World Heritage Site, the Altamura's and Gravina's Cathedrals, the Museum of Maiolica di Laterza. The area is rich of unique gastronomy traditions: Altamura's bread; dairy products; dishes of vegetables, mushrooms, different kinds of meat; aromatic herbs; meat grilled right at the Butcheries.
